News + Sound: Hearts of Palm UK come calling For Life

Before plunging in to the good stuff, we need to settle the name: Hearts of Palm UK are in fact not from the UK. We're told discussing the suffix is a touchy subject--one we're sure curious questioners will hound the ladies about. If you have to ask, you have found your answer.

Without further delay onto Hearts of Palm UK, who will release their debut, For Life, October 15th through Hypenote.

Hearts of Palm UK - "People & Logistics"

Three girls, three keyboards, and a lot of sparkle, sequins, mystery and magic, Hearts of Palm UK are Erica Elektra (vocals, keyboard, guitar), Frankie Rose (glockenspiel, keyboard, percussion) and newest member Billy Kaye (cello, autoharp, keyboard).

Erica was playing music, experimenting with electronic beats and pop melodies. After playing with a bunch of random musicians she'd met on Craigslist, she decided to recruit her best girl and childhood friend, Frankie Rose, owing to her knack for percussion. They had a good run as a duo, playing CMJ in 2007 and having the extraordinary good fortune of winning the title of best "undiscovered" female music talent in America in a contest sponsored by GenArt & Biore Skin Care. The prize money enabled them to work with Dan Horne, co-owner of the aptly-named Lone Palm Studios.
