Turnquist may be another guitarist in the mold of James Blackshaw and Peter Walker but clearly there's an open market for 6 and 12 string virtuosos ready to produce raga for a younger, hungrier generation.
What separates Turnquist from the herd is his ability to tap into the atmospheric drones and melodies his cohorts gloss over through the course of their stringed mastery--"Water Spots Upon My Mind" from Turnquist's debut Faint at the Loudest Hour showcases his precision at combining faint minimalism with grandiose plucking and strumming.
It just so happens that I have sounds for you to sample:
"Amongst a Swarm of Hummingbirds"
"Water Spots Upon My Mind
"White Out"
